It is with profound sadness, that the Massaquoi and Johnson families announce the peaceful passing of their patriarch, Fritz Hilary Massaquoi. This sad event occurred on Thursday, February 3, 2022, at the Island Home Park Health and Rehabilitation Center.
He was surrounded by family when he transitioned from this world knowing that he was deeply loved and cherished. Our dear “Onyee” (as we affectionately called him) lived a rich and fulfilled life for 95 years, and we have been truly blessed to have him in our lives.
He is predeceased by his parents Rachel E. Johnson & A. Momolu “Momofo” Massaquoi, and daughter Geleh Ylva Massaquoi and several of his brothers and sisters.
Uncle Fritz leaves to mourn his loss a large and loving family, including his dear sister Fasia Massaquoi, son Hans Rutgers Massaquoi; his many nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and countless relatives and friends around the world.
In light of the COVID pandemic, the family will not be holding a public funeral service and we trust you will respect this decision as we prepare to send our dear uncle on his journey.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Fritz’s memory can be sent to St. James Episcopal Church’s N’Jabacca School Project, 1101 N. Broadway, Knoxville, TN 37917.
