Prof. Hon. Alhaji G.V. Kromah

Sunrise February 11, 1953
Sunset January 18, 2022

Our family, friends, and the nation of Liberia are in the state of LOSS and GRIEF!

With solemn sadness and regrets, the Kromah, Simpson, Maximore, Sabah/Sanyon, Swaray, Fahnbulleh/Freeman, Dorleh, Davis families, and others, too many to name, announce that Prof. Hon. Alhaji Gasumu Varmunyan Kromah has been called home from labor to rest. This sad event occurred on January 18, 2022 at his residence in Congo Town, Monrovia, after a protracted illness.

Alhaji was born on Camp Johnson Road, Monrovia, Liberia, onto the union of Mr. Alhaji Varmunyan Kromah Senior and Manyuan Sabah-Sanyon Kromah.

He is survived by his wife, Clarice Simpson Kromah and their three (3) children: Manyuan Kromah-Cooper (Edwin J. Cooper III), Adamah Kromah and Lasannah Kromah. Three grandchildren: Elyse Cooper, Eyana Cooper and Edwin J. Cooper IV. He’s also survived by his siblings, Madamah Swaray-Dorleh, Mamadee Marvin Kromah, Maiatu Fahnbulleh Davis, Abdullah Kromah, Mamadee Kromah (Small Mamadee), Blamah Kromah, several nieces, nephews, cousins, sisters in-law, extended relatives and friends who are more “family” than friends.
NOTE: Alhaji mentored many, whom he also considered his siblings or children; too many to list in this forum, but will live on to continue his legacy.

He was predeceased by both parents, his brothers Lasanah V. Kromah, Sekou Kromah, his sisters Miata and Fatu Kromah.

“G.V” or “Lagi”, as affectionately called by many, was a scholar, professor, politician, statesmen, ambassador of many, a staunch advocate for the disadvantaged, mentor, humanitarian and a loving, devoted husband and father to his wife and children.

May our Almighty Allah, and all his prophets and angels, grant him grace, mercy, and a grand entrance into heaven where other loved ones await him. Ameena, Amen!!!
