Mary G. Gibson

The Gibson, Gbolumah and Kpardeh families announce with heavy hearts the passing of our Matriarch, Mother Mary G. Gibson, Spiritual Head/Founder of the Light of Christ Church in Lower Johnsonville, Montserrado County, Liberia. This sad event took place on Wednesday, January 12th, 2022, at the St. Joseph’s Catholic Hospital in Congo Town, Monrovia.

Besides her spiritual journey, she served as a mentor to the many children she nurtured, and was a professional schoolteacher with the Government of Liberia, under the Ministry of Education for many years. She taught at several Government schools in Monrovia and Wesua, in Gbapolu County.

She is survived by children: Janet Gibson Skaf, Clayonon Cecilia Gibson-Morris (Sakpeh), Nyonohpyne Ethel Gibson Harris (Bridgestone), Gmaniteh C. Gibson-Issa (Najaab), Wiehdee A. Gibson, Arthurlyne Love Gibson-Tewobola (Success); three adopted daughters, Garmai Gibson, Albertha Gibson and Wango Gibson. She is also survived by 36 grandchildren, 59 great grandchildren, one sister, Korlu Gbolumah, one brother, Pewu Gbolumah, nieces, nephews, and cousins in Liberia and the United States of America.

She was predeceased by Arthur C. B. Gibson, Sr. (Husband) and Arthur C. B. Gibson, Jr. (Son).

Funeral services over the remains of the late Mary G. Gibson are as follow:

The body shall be removed from the AB Roberts Funeral Home in Gardnesville on Friday, February 4th at 5:00 p.m. and taken to the Light of Christ Church in Lower Johnsonville for one night of wake keeping. Wake starts at 6:00 p.m. and ends at 10:00 p.m.

Funeral services over the remains of our late Mother, Grandmother, Great-grandmother, Aunty and Sister will be held at the Light of Christ Church in Lower Johnsonville on Saturday, February 5th at 10:00 a.m.

Interment follows in Johnsonville.

Repast information will be announced at the funeral services.
