Mr. J. Wah-Doe Bedell Sr.
It is with a heavy heart that we announce the death of our father, husband, grandfather, uncle, cousin, and friend, Mr. J.Wah-Doe Bedell Sr. He passed away quietly on Tuesday, January 11th, 2022.
He is survived by his wife Charlotte Nyemade Collins Bedell, his children GbutuKla Bedell, Eugene Bedell, (Josephine Wade Bedell who predeceased him) Daniel Bedell, Theodosia Bedell, J.Wah-Doe Bedell Jr. , and Anne Himiede Bedell Benjamin (Pierre Benjamin) and adopted children, Nerisa Funke Thomas, Atim Thomas, Abraham Kollie Bedell (predeceased him) Rose Bedell, Siede Modupe Bedell, Viola McGill (predeceased him) Charlotte Nyemade Collins (predeceased him) and Jerry Freeman. He is also survived by several grandchildren, including Eugene Bedell Jr, Kla Bedell ll, Eugenie Hawah Bedell, J.wah-doe Bedell lll, Dr. Corey Antonio Benjamin, Jamal Glee Bedell, Atim Bedell, Christopher Nyema-Andrew Benjamin, Akim Bedell, Jermaine Himie Bedell, Adam Bedell, and Alim Bedell. Children that lived with Mr. Bedell include: Sie-anyene Bedell, Theodosia Moore, Manno T Landford, Elizebath Landford, Klade Landford, Joan Landlord and Manson Dahn and several nephews, nieces and cousins and a host of other relatives. All of his siblings predeceased him.
Mr. J.Wah-Doe Sr. was a founding member of B.W. Harris Episcopal School and served as its first Vice Principal and later as Principal. While working at B.W. Harris he also served as Principal of Edwin Barclay elementary school in Monrovia. Prior to joining B.W. Harris he served as the first Principal of Zion Academy.
Our father was a staunch member of the Freemason serving as a Past Master of Mt. Moriah Lodge No. 13 in Margibi County and 33rd degree, Commander-In-Chief, Valley of Mesurado Consistory No. 237.
Due to the recent uptake of the Omicron virus the churches where the wake and funeral will take place are requiring that everyone who attends must have their Covid card with them, must have a mask on at all times during the program, and must provide contact tracing information in the event someone comes down with the virus.
Viewing and Wake Keeping is on Friday February 4th from 6:00pm to 10:00pm Est. at
“Episcopal Church of Our Savior” located at 1700 Powder Mill Rd, Silver Spring, MD 20903. Please note that all tributes are expected to be done at the wake. Maximum capacity allowed at the wake is 300.
Funeral Service is on Saturday February 5th from 10:00am to 12:00pm Est. at “St. David’s Episcopal Church” located at 43600 Russell Branch Pkwy, Ashburn, VA 20147. As stated above all Covid protocol as described above will be observed. Maximum capacity allowed at the funeral is 200. Live streaming will be provided for folks who cannot come due to the limitation of the Church Covid capacity requirement. Live stream information is:

Internment is immediately after the funeral on Saturday February 5th at “Fairfax Memorial Park Cemetery” located at 9900 Braddock Road, Fairfax VA 22032.
