Vernisha Juclyn Ariyachat

“The faithful love of the Lord never ends.

His mercies never cease. Great is His faithfulness;

His mercies begin afresh every morning.”

Lamentations 3:22-23 (NLT)

Vernisha, as we affectionately called, was born on July 27th, 1999 by Vera Babygirl Kaizer and Surachat Ariyachat in Abidjan, Ivory Coast. She is the third born among four siblings. Vernisha was diagnosed with a kidney failure at age one (1) at the Abidjan Poly Clinic. We move her to Ghana, Accra to be precise at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital for a rapid response due to unavailability of resources to cure her.

We spent three (3) good years in Ghana without making a headway. And the escalation of the situation became so much unbearable to us as a family. So, we had to go back to Abidjan to decide on what to do the next. Luckily for us, a Doctor at the Poly Clinic in Abidjan advised that we need to fly Vernisha Abroad to save her life. On that note, we migrated to Bowling Green, Kentucky in the United States of America in the year 2004.

We then moved from Kentucky to St. Paul and headed to Eagan in Minnesota some few months later and started visiting the St. Paul children Hospital.

No sooner than later, Vernisha was transferred from the St, Paul Children Hospital to the University of Minnesota (U of M) for a dialysis and a thorough scrutiny by differential diffusion through a semipermeable membrane. She was later added to the kidney receivers list.

On August 1st, 2007, an anonymous donor recognized her bravery and resilience which led to the donation of a life kidney to Vernisha.

Life after her transplant, a vail was removed. Vernisha was able to attend school at the Highwood Hills Elementary School. Then completed her High School journey at the Eagan Senior High.

As she blossomed into her new life, she was able to embrace so many beautiful moments such as the birth of her beautiful little sister Joverlynna Massaquoi, her High School Graduation, the engagement to her love Quiah Seeyon, and the birth of her beautiful baby girl Genesis Seeyon.

During Vernisha’s high school journey, she made so many beautiful memories and long-lasting connections. One connection captured her heart most: her fiancé Quiah Seeyon. The love Vernisha had for Quiah cannot be compared nor measured. Such a beautiful soul with unconditional love in her heart. A perfect example of their love was how the couple exercised their faith to create their Blessing, Genesis Seeyon in the year 2020. With so many doubts from doctors, family, and friends; giving birth to her baby girl was the biggest and final milestone Vernisha accomplished. Her becoming a mother was all she ever wanted. Nine months carrying, one of every holiday, baby’s first steps and sounds, first birthday and the special moments in between unfortunate were the last moments spent with her beautiful baby girl.

As she bowed out of this world gracefully touching each soul she’s encountered. Her legacy lives on through her family, her love for children, her passion for beauty, fashion, delicious foods, and her beautiful mini Genesis Seeyon.

That very faithful day, you asked me to cook fufu and palm butter for you, which was one of your favorite dishes. Although you were not feeling well.  I was looking forward to you coming home to eat with us. Vernisha did end up calling for the ambulance as she continued to not feel well. The outcome of her departure was not one that anyone could predict. After receiving that phone call that no mother wants to receive about their child, from the ER. I was told you were no longer with us.

Oh Vernisha, you will be deeply missed by your family, friends, and loved ones. Your absence will forever remain in our memories.

Vernisha, May your soul rest in the bosom of Abraham.

Vernisha is survived by her mother (Vera Kaizer). Sisters (Ayishara Ariyachat), (Alchalee Ariyachat), and (Joverlynna Massaqui). Daughter (Genesis Seeyon).
