Tribute to a Distinguished Gentleman Honorable Roland Walter Morris Sr. Republic of Liberia

March 29th, 2025

With profound sorrow, we received the heartbreaking news on March 11, 2025, of the unexpected passing of our esteemed leader, mentor, and cherished friend, the Honorable Roland Walter Morris Sr., fondly known as Boi Ro.

During the late 90s, we had the privilege of meeting Boi Ro through our work at the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Republic of Liberia. From the very beginning, it was clear that he exemplified the qualities of a true Distinguished Gentleman. Boi Ro was a man of unwavering purpose and unshakable integrity, embodying a rare blend of wisdom, compassion, and resolute determination. His kindness and generosity were not mere gestures but intrinsic qualities that defined his very existence. With an innate ability to inspire and uplift, he left an indelible mark on countless lives, both within the Ministry and beyond. His presence radiated an authentic warmth that fostered deep connections, making him a beacon of guidance and strength to all who crossed his path.

Boi Ro was a man of sharp intellect and unwavering dedication to every initiative and project he undertook. Structured and principled, he played a crucial role in shaping the Intellectual Property Act in Liberia. Due to his quiet strength, exemplary professionalism, and unwavering commitment to excellence, the Intellectual Property Act was successfully enacted. As the principal coordinators (Secretarial Staff) within the Minister’s Office, we collaborated extensively with Boi Ro on every initiative, meticulously executing his directives with precision and unwavering attention to detail (smile we remember).

Boi Ro was a man with a strong moral compass and a deep sense of fairness, always making sure that everyone who contributed to a project was rightfully compensated for their work. Bo Ro’s deep wisdom and boundless compassion allowed him to recognize the goodness in everyone he met. Boi Ro exuded an air of effortless elegance, his impeccable sense of style complemented by an undeniable confidence, refined sophistication, and a distinctly masculine grace that commanded attention wherever he went.

In early 2024, the President of the Business Community, formerly the Ministry of Commerce (Minister’s Staff) in the 1990s, Ms. Matilda Okai-Johnson, had a long-awaited reunion with Boi Ro. After years of separation, their meeting proved to be profoundly impactful, setting the stage for a series of ambitious and pragmatic initiatives. Together, they identified key projects to be realized in the coming years, particularly for 2025-2026, outlining a strategic path forward.

Tragically, with Boi Ro's untimely passing, a significant void has emerged, leaving those projects suspended and the future uncertain.

Boi Ro possessed an impeccable blend of humor and intellectual sharpness, a character both audacious and elegantly composed. Truly, Boi Ro’s existence was a paragon of admiration, a life woven with threads of aspiration and reverence. Boi Ro has left an unforgettable impression on everyone who has had the privilege of knowing him, and his legacy will remain eternally etched in the fabric of our hearts and minds. May his soul rest in perfect peace.

Boi Ro, we love you, but God loves you BEST!! Rest in Peace Honorable Roland Walter Morris Sr.

Rest in Peace Boi Ro! Rest in Peace Mr. Distinguished Gentleman!

With love, The Minister’s Staff aka (The Business Community) Ms. Matilda Okai-Johnson-USA President

Mrs. Bendu Kamanda Erich-USA Vice President

Ms. Sarah B. Dopoh-USA Secretary-General-USA

FIVE YEARS IN REMEMBRANCE OF OUR DEAREST MOTHER COMFORT DUWLI TOE TRANSITION FROM EARTH TO HEAVEN

August 23, 1930 - March 22, 2020

Comfort Duwli Dueh Toe was born on August 23, 1930, unto the union of the late Daniel Jleh Dueh and the late Florence Tuwlo Nimley Dueh of Grandcess, kru Coast Territory (now Grand Kru County) Liberia, West Africa.

She was a First-Class educator/ teacher who focus on Kindergarten and Elementary education in Grandcess for 32 years at the James T. Nimley Kindergarten school and Plenyenoh Gbe (P.G) Wollor Elementary School with focus on Kindergarten and Elementary education. She was also a senior Home Economics instructor at the school of Home Arts in Grandcess. There she helped impact vocational skills in females, including orphaned, poor, needy and vulnerable young girls, and women she and her colleague’s provided instruction in sewing and crocheting, fashion design, and interior decoration. At home, she nurtured young girls in baking, cooking, food preparation and food service, and general hospitality. As a small businesswoman, she found time to mentor young and middle-aged women in understanding basic personal finance, family resource management, household budgeting, and small-scale income generation activities.

And, given her own humble beginnings in poverty, toiling as her mother’s farm hand, as a domestic servant to certain families in Monrovia (Montserrado County), Greenville (Sinoe County), and Robertsport (Cape Mount county), she always wanted the best out of underprivileged and less fortunate females. Accordingly, she reared several young people as her children; and many became productive parents, family guardians, and contributors to local communities and society at large.

The late Comfort Duwli Dueh Toe was a faithful Christian and a practicing Roman Catholic by denomination. In Liberia, she was a Foundation Member of the Ancient and Noble Order of the Knights of St. John Internation (KSJI) a major Roman Catholic religious and charitable organization formed in 1879 in Baltimore, MD with Papal Blessing. She joined the SJI Holy Family Ladies Auxiliary #390 based in Grandcess, Diocese of Cape Palmas, Liberia. For 2 decades, she served the Auxiliary as Recording/Corresponding Secretary, Financial Secretary, and Treasurer with distinction. In addition, she was a Member of the Pastoral Council and Vice President of the Financial Council of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Grandcess, and Assistant Treasurer of the Catholic Credit Union in Grandcess. She was an influential member of Baaiporh, a women’s social and empowerment group in Grandcess.

In the United States, Comfort Duwli Dueh Toe worshipped at St. Mary’s Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Newark, New Jersey. During her stay in Columbus, Georgia USA, she worshipped at our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church and was a congregational Greeter/Usher, Reciter of the Rosary, and Member of the committee that visits the sick, shut-in and disabled, she was an active Member of the Pastoral Catholic Council of Women (PCCW) helping take care of the Chapel and raising funds through sales of arts and crafts, and special fundraising events. She volunteered/ donated towards feeding of the hungry, poor and needy in neighborhoods within the vicinity of the church and where she lived.

The late Comfort Duwli Dueh Toe was a conscientious and civic-minded citizen, who was recognized as an active community resident and good neighbor in Columbus, Georgia: Certificate of Acknowledgment (2014) for 21 years participation at the E.J. Knight Nutrition site; Congratulations (2008) for participating (190 Miles) in walk Georgia Program conducted by the University of Georgia Cooperative Extension, Colleges of Agricultural and Environments Sciences & Family and Consumer Sciences Certificate of Thanks (2007) and Certificate of Appreciation (2008).

Old mom, as you were affectionately called, we, your children, grandchildren and great grandchildren on Earth, cannot believe how fast the years have passed since death snatched you away from us. Indeed, five years since your death seems like yesterday.

To you, our dearest mother in heaven, words are inadequate to express our gratitude for guiding us through life and making us what we are today. We talk to you in silence every day knowing that you are around. Our hearts hurt but we know that your memories will always be kept and not forgotten. We missed you too much!

We often lie awake at night, when the world is fast asleep, and take a walk down memory lane, with tears upon our cheeks. Remembering you is easy, we do it every day, but missing you is heartache that never goes away.

We hold you tightly within our hearts and there you will remain. Until the joyous day arrives, that we will meet again. We missed you and rest assured that your memory will forever be in our hearts.

Thank you, Mom, for being such a positive force in our lives, today your love whispers in the wind and surrounds us with peace because we feel your presence always.

Mom, you were a very gregarious person who forged and maintained close relationships, you were a beautiful soul, loving, forgiving, spiritual, and strong. We are blessed that you are our mother even in death. God, keep blessing and watching over our mother, father, brothers, sister, and other faithful departed uncles, aunties, cousins and family members, until we meet in the great beyond.

Message of Love from your Children, Grandchildren, and Great Grandchildren!!!
