The Yarngo, Gibson, Shainga and Cooper families wish to announce the home-going of our beloved “Patriarch” the Honorable Edwin J. Yarngo Sr. affectionately referred to as “Dede” by his children, former dedicated civil servant of the government of Liberia in the following capacities: Deputy Minister of Revenue, R.L, Commissioner of Internal Revenue, former Minister of State without Portfolio, General Manager of SATCO, Deputy Director General for the Institute of Public Administration R.L.

This sad event occurred on June 6, 2021, at 10:25 pm following a protracted illness at ManorCare of Alexandria in Mt. Vernon, Virginia. Dede leaves to mourn his loss his wife of 59 years, Mary Angela Sherman-Yarngo; 12children, Melvin (Tasha), Justin (Comfort), Edwina, Laurine (Olufemi), Melvina (Eric), Emmanuel “Mac”, Ed Jr. (Jacqueline), Tayma (Jallah), Jackie (Dwight), Elvis, Chauncy, and Angie. He is also survived by his sisters Cecelia Yarngo, Rachel Wright, and Edna Yarngo; 25 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, cousins sponsored children and a host of other relatives and friends in the United States and around the world.
EJY is predeceased by his parents, Jarwo Yarngo and Famia Shanga; as well as several brothers and sisters.

The family wishes to honor his remains and share his homegoing with friends and well-wishers prior to departure for burial in Liberia as follows:
