Mother Willette R. Slocum

It is with deep sadness, that the Slocum, Miller, Steel, and Moore families announce the: Home-Going: of their beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister, aunty, and cousin. Mother Slocum was calmly :called and transitioned: this world on July 22, 2021, at her residence in Decatur, Illinois. She was born unto the union of Mr. William R. Slocum and Mrs. Carie Anna Miller Slocum in Barnesville Liberia. Both of her parents predeceased her.

Mother Slocum, a lifelong educator, retired from The Chicago Public School System. Even though she was retired, she did not stop teaching. Her passion for education kept her teaching and advocating health awareness. Mother Slocum was a humanitarian who loved and served the Lord, her family, and humankind whenever she got the opportunity to do so.

Mother Slocum leaves to mourn her children: Aaron Sanso, Theodore Moore, Nennie Lydia Cole Reed, Reginald Moore, Adlevia Moore Coleman, Lafayette Moore, her beloved sister Mrs. Ruth Wolo Slocum, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of relatives and friends. She will be deeply missed as we celebrate her extraordinary life.

Let not your heart be troubled: believe in God, believe also in me. ~ John 14:1

May her soul rest in perpetual peace!
