Marcia Greaves Shaw
March 11, 1951 - June 25, 2021
It is with broken hearts that the Shaw, Greaves, Hall and Cooper families sadly announce the passing of our mother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend, Marcia Greaves Shaw, on June 25, 2021 in Johannesburg, South Africa – a place that she called home for over 20 years.
She was the founder of Image Africa, the brand name under which she produced and marketed her amazing talent for art. She was also the author of Memories of Liberia, which she compiled as a dictionary of the lingua franca of Liberia (Kolokwa) and was a proud and active member of the Psi Tau Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated.
Marcia is predeceased by her parents, William and Joetta Greaves; her son Emanuel Lionel Shaw III; and her siblings Wilma Greaves, Waldron Greaves, Kenneth Greaves, Ethan Greaves, Elwood Greaves and Samuel Shepherd.
She leaves to mourn her loss her children: Elma Shaw, Eugene Shaw, Lamelle Shaw, Eunese Shaw Brent and their father, Emanuel L. Shaw II; and her beloved grandchildren: Keyan Skelton, Tyne Skelton, Tehegan Shaw, Emanuel Lionel Shaw IV, Imani Shaw, Amaru Shaw, Tamai Shaw-Lloyd, Tendai Shaw-Muxchate, Jordan Brent and Bailey Brent. Marcia is survived by her siblings Joyce (Harry) Viklund, Ethello Greaves McCritty, John Milton (Estella) Greaves, Marjorie Greaves Sherman, Albertine Barclay and Barbara Greaves, her foster sister, Zoeque Smith, and a host of relatives and friends.
