Delaney Korlue Obey

The Obey family announces the death of Delaney Obey in her 75th year. She died in Providence, Rhode Island on Monday, November 10, 2008, at 7:00 p.m.

Delaney Obey is survived by her children Evelin Epple (Dale) of Cleveland, Ohio, Napoleon Boyd Askie (Jeneba) of Providence, Rhode Island, Lance Craig Hill, Horatio Mitchell, Eddie Forkpah, Dell Bracewell, and Merci Bracewell of Liberia. Delaney was predeceased by two of her children, Olive and Arthur Tyes. She also leaves to mourn her loss her brother, Counselor Wallace Octavius Obey, of Monrovia, Liberia, many grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends, both in the United States and Liberia. Delaney was born and raised in Arthington, Liberia. She was a member of St. Paul's Baptist Church in Arthington. After moving to the United States in the 1990's during the civil unrest in Liberia, she attended Christ United Methodist Church in Ohio, and later became a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Providence, Rhode Island. She also served God and her community as an active member of the Order of the Eastern Stars and the Daughters of Jacob.

Wake Keeping:
A service of prayer, songs, and tributes will be held at Calvary Baptist Church, 747 Broad Street, Providence, Rhode Island 02907 on Friday, November 28, 2008 from 6:00 to 10:00 p.m.

Funeral:
A funeral and thanksgiving service will be held at Calvary Baptist Church, 747 Broad Street, Providence, Rhode Island 02907 on Saturday, November 29, 2008 beginning at 10:00 a.m.

Interment will follow immediately thereafter at Oakland Cemetery, 1569 Broad Street, Cranston, Rhode Island 02905.

Directions to cemetery from church: Drive Southeast on Broad Street toward RI-117. Continue on Broad Street for 1.75 miles to 1569 Broad Street, Cranston, Rhode Island.

Repast:
A repast will be held in Providence, Rhode Island following the burial.
