Alfreda Louise Verdier Mitchell

It’s with heavy hearts and profound sadness that the family (Wright, Mitchell, Verdier, Cummings) of Alfreda Louise Verdier Mitchell announces her death in her 88th year, at approximately 6:02pm on Monday, August 2nd 2021 at the Whiteoak Of Waxhaw nursing facility in Waxhaw, North Carolina.

“Freda or Fefe” as she was affectionately called by many was a very kind and loving mother who took care of not only her own children but also children of other people who looked to her for help in raising their children when they could not. In addition to being a career Registered Nurse, she was also the neighborhood’s nurse in the Duala and Point Four communities in Monrovia, Liberia where she resided before moving to the United States in 1994.

Alfreda was predeceased by her parents: Mr. Alfred Louis Verdier, Mrs. Sarah Rebecca Cummings Verdier, her husband, Mr. James A. Mitchell, and her brother Mr. Manfred A. Verdier.

Alfreda leaves to mourn her loss, her children: Richard A. Wright Sr (Amanda), Melvin C. Mitchell Sr. (Tonya), and Friedell Wright Robinson. Grandchildren: Francesca, Richard Jr, Gabrielle, Ralph, Rakita, Melvin Jr. and one great granddaughter Rowen Avery Wright. In addition, she also leaves to mourn her loss, her sister Francesca Verdier Carr, her loving extended family in Liberia Annette Mitchell, Friedolline Dari and Fatu Verdier, nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of relatives and friends.

Alfreda will be truly missed but she is free and we thank God for the lives she impacted and now it’s time for her to go and take her rest.
