Mr. Jehu Baccus Matthews, Jr.

(February 24, 1950- July 6, 2021)
"Let not your heart be troubled, ye believe in God, believe also in me."
It is with deep sorrow that the Matthews ,Gwehi, Turkett, Bracewell and Natt families announce the homegoing of their son, father, husband, grandfather, Mr. Jehu Baccus Matthews, Jr. He was affectionately called Brother. Baccus was called from labor to reward on Monday, July 6, 2021, after a brief period of illness at Catholic Hospital in Monrovia.
Baccus got his primary education from B.W. Harris episcopal High School, Broad Street, Monrovia, Liberia and transferred to St. John's Episcopal High School in Cape Mount County, where he obtained his High School Diploma. Brother matriculated to Cuttington University, Suacoco, Liberia and transferred to The University Of Wisconsin- Madison, Madison Wisconsin United States of America, earning a Bachelor Of Science (BS) in Biomedical Engineering. Baccus worked at J.F.K Hospital for 35 years as a Biomedical Engineer and Medical Equipment Designer and retired in 2015.
Brother embraced christianty at an early age through the training from his parents and eventually became a devout Jehovah Witness. He was a devoted servant of God and member of the Old Road Kingdom Hall, Sinkor Old Road Monrovia, Liberia for 34 years. He impacted the lives of many, he was a loving and a caring husband, father and truly will be missed by his family, friends and church members. He worked tirelessly with his church.
Baccus was predeceased by his father Mr. Momo Gwehi, mother Angela Gwehi, his Brother Earl Matthews. Baccus leaves to mourn his loving wife of 40 years, Dioly Natt Matthews, his children; Angela /Alfred Williams, Sham/Estella Matthews, Elese/Solomon Cummings, Ioly/Elvis Nyahn, Jedi Matthews, Jammie Matthews, Boimah Matthews and Mento Matthews. His siblings, Deddeh/Kingsley Botchway, Gwedoh Harper, and Rev Momo /Samantha Gwehi, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of relatives in Liberia and the U. S. A.
May his soul rest in eternal peace.
