Sunset September 9, 2021
It is with profound sadness, that the Marshall, Stubblefield, Lawson and Trinity families announce the peaceful passing of their matriarch, Elfrieda Hettie Lawson Marshall affectionately called Free girl, Free Free, Freida, Ma Elfrieda, Mama and Grandma. This sad event occurred on Thursday, September 9, 2021, at the home of her daughter Brenda Madia Marshall in Knightdale, North Carolina.
She was surrounded by family as she transitioned to Glory from this earth knowing how very much she was loved. Mama lived a rich and fulfilling life for 74 years. We are very blessed to have had her in our lives. Her love and generosity surpassed what we have ever seen.
She was pre-deceased by her mother, Louise P. Stubblefield and her father Daypkee Zeogar, her husband of 39 years Tommie W. Marshall Sr., her siblings, Margaret Anderson, Evangeline Marweih, and Obediah M. Glay.
Mama leaves to mourn her loss, her children: Tommie W. Marshall Jr., T. Manfred Magnus Marshall, Adolphus T. Marshall (Wenifred), Margaret Precious Marshall-Feury, Brenda Louise Madia Marshall, Eldred Yujay Marshall, Julia Toe, Betty M. Yammue (Joe), Amelia Nyhdro (Alex), and Lafayette Marshall (Mammie). Grandchildren: Mariam (Karmo), Jerome, Freddie (Lovette) Eleanor, Gibson Jr. (Felicia), Elfrieda, Harriet, Kevin, Tommie, Matthias, Nicole, Christopher, Kou, Princess and Facia, twenty two great-grandchildren. Also mourning her loss are her nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, her Providence Baptist Church Fellowship family and many close friends that were dear to her.
Mama touched many lives and lived a God-fearing Christian life. She was loved by many. We are confident that her living was not in vain. We would like to say a special thanks to our sister Brenda for caring for mama during her last years. There are so many of you who were special to her and we thank you for the love and affection shown to her over the years. Every prayer, visit, card, call, gift, bouquet of flowers, or African food sent meant so much to her. Mama loved you but God loves her best. We all thank and appreciate you.
In light of the COVID pandemic, the family will not be holding a public funeral service and we trust you will respect this decision as we prepare to send our mother off to Glory. In light of this, we have created a virtual link to pay your respects and send tributes, share memories, photos and videos of your special times with her. A Memorial Service will be held on September 25, 2021 10:00am at the Providence Baptist Church in Liberia.
