Reverend Jesse Benniah Karnley Sr.

Débuted on Life's stage: October 17, 1941, and Signed Off to Glory: September 1, 2021

The Karnley family announces the passing of our beloved father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle, and cousin Reverend Jesse Benniah Karnley Sr. in Salisbury, North Carolina, USA.

Pa, or “Uncle Jesse” as many affectionately called him was the last living patriarch in the Karnley family with the passing of his older brothers Sammy B, Isaac J., and their father, "Old man" George Karnley. Also, predeceased are his son Jesse B Karnley jr. and younger sister Vonjo Karnley.

"Uncle Jesse" selflessly gave his love and time to God as a clergyman, his spouse, family, and his native country Liberia. In service to Liberia, he dedicated his career to improving Radio and TV journalism and contributed his creative talent to the arts by writing comical skits for the Liberian audience.

In addition, the veteran journalist served in several statesman capacities as Press Secretary for the late President William R. Tolbert, Assistant Minister for Public Affairs, Ministry of Information, Director General of the Liberia Broadcasting System, and the Central Printing INC, and  as Director of Rural Broadcasting at the Liberia Broadcasting System.

Our loving patriarch leaves to mourn his beautiful children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, sisters, brothers, nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of other relatives.
