Mai Ellen Bailey Harris

The Harris, Bailey, Hardy, and Jenkins families are heavy in heart to announce the death of our loved one, Mai Ellen Bailey Harris. This sad event occurred on September 1, 2021, at her home in Winder, Georgia surrounded by loved ones.

Tete Mai, as she was affectionately called, was born on June 6, 1946, to the late Mr. Joseph William Bailey, Sr. (Sarah B. Yancy, Stepmother-deceased), and the late Mrs. Ida Beatrice Hardy Jenkins in Monrovia, of Liberia. She was married for 39 years to the love of her life, the late Mr. Samuel Nostelda Harris.

Tete Mai leaves to cherish  and mourn her passing her beloved children- Benjamin Payne (Melody), Albert Wright (Tiffanee), Vida Mai Wright, Harriett Russell (Greg), Stella Mai Harris (Jermaine); grandchildren: Gwendolyn, Devonte, Nickolas, Albert, Tatiana, Amber, Yael, Rachel, Kiara, Kaiya, Samuel and Elijah; great-grandchild- Ava-Marie; She is survived by her supporting siblings –Ruth Harris, James Edward Wilson (Maurine), Lady Erma Ramon Turner (Victor), Dr. Dwedor Morais Ford (Dr. Charles-Deceased), Magdalena Coleman (Albert), Ellen Tina Bailey, Benjamin Bailey (Mayadeh).

She is also survived by one aunty, Mrs. Elizabeth Hardy Autridge and several close cousins, including James Cornelius Hardy (Jenny) and Erma McBorrough Brown, a host of nieces and nephews, and caring friends to mourn her passing. 

She is predeceased by her siblings Cornelius Cole; Dr. Joseph William Bailey, II (Dr. Vera), Joyce Bailey, Priscilla Bailey, Prince Bailey (Benetta) and Julius Saah Bailey.

May her soul and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.
