Passed
peacefully on February 14, 2009, at the age of 66. Dearly
beloved wife of James Douglas Hall, Sr.; loving mother of
Janice Victoria Hall Kennedy (Emmett), Alexander Douglas Hall,
James Douglas Hall, Jr. (Kristen), and Asatu Musunama Hall-Allah
(Takim Saffat); cherished grandmother of Princess Alnede Hall,
Ashley-Nicole Asatu Hall-Kennedy, Audrey LaVette Kennedy,
Lindsay-Renee Ethel Kennedy, Emmett Euin Kennedy II, Lawrence
Jason Kennedy, Kaelin Yumi Hall, Justin MaKai Hall, and one
grandchild in Utero, estimated due date April 3, 2009; devoted
great grandmother of Mathew Vernell Barnes II and Kennedy-Sanai
Asatu Nicole Barnes; Dear sister of Adolphus Henry Brooks
Chenoweth (Cynthia), Dr. Florence Alletta Chenoweth, Edith
Asatu Yancy-Mitchell (John), William Ciafa Chenoweth (Frances),
and dear aunt of 10 nieces, 8 nephews, 5 great nieces and
6 great nephews.
Mrs.
Hall received her primary and high school education at Bethany
Episcopal Mission School in Robertsport, Grand Cape Mount
County, Liberia. She received a B.A. in Education from the
University of Liberia in 1966. Following the advice of her
mentor, noted African American professor and scholar, Asa
Hillard, Mrs. Hall decided to continue her education abroad.
In
1967 she won a USAID-Government of United States Teacher's
Training Scholarship to study Early Childhood Education at
San Francisco State University. In 1969 she graduated from
SFSU with a Masters Degree in Early Childhood Education at
SFSU and was a teacher for over 25 years, winning several
awards for teaching during her career as a Master Teacher
at O.M.I. Childcare Center in San Francisco.
Family and friends are invited to attend the Quiet Hour
Thursday, February 26th, from 4:00-6:00pm; the wake will continue
from 6:00-10:00pm.
The
Funeral Service will be Friday, February 27th at 10:00am.
All services will be held at Temple United Methodist Church
, 1111 Junipero Serra Blvd. (at Beverly St.), San Francisco,
CA.
Interment
@ Cypress Lawn Cemetery, Colma, Ca. See below for directions.
