 HONOURABLE ALEXANDER POLEY GBAYEE
The Gbayee, Abi-Rached, Pokolo, Johnson, Davis and Bracewell families, the twenty-two students joined by the Liberian Community of Chicago and the Midwest United States, announce with heavy hearts the passing of THE HONOURABLE ALEXANDER POLEY GBAYEE, former HONORARY CONSUL GENERAL OF THE REPUBLIC OF LIBERIA TO CHICAGO AND THE MIDWEST UNITED STATES. Consul General Gbayee was a true servant to Liberians and non-Liberians alike, always lending a helping hand to anybody in need.
He was working to uplift our youth, up to the last moments of his early sojourn, having just broken grounds for construction of a polytechnic college prep institute in his native Maryland County, Liberia, under the aegis of the LIBERIA HOPEFOUNDATION. He took many young men and women under his wings, many of them very successful today. He was instrumental in securing twenty-five scholarships for young Liberians to study at Chicago State University. As we celebrate a life well lived, we challenge his many beneficiaries to continue his dream of making life better for our youth.
Honourable Gbayee is survived by his loving wife of nearly fifty years, Mrs. Idella Musu Gbayee, his brother in-law and son, William G. Abi-Rached, Sr. (Josephine), nephews and nieces, Saydee Pokolo (Antoinette), Moses Pokolo, Oritha Pokolo, Dennis Pokolo Jr., Nyama Pokolo, Ruth Pokolo, Willie Pokolo, Robert Chea, Cerue Bia (Lorenzo), Rodney Abi-Rached, Adib Abi-Rached (Thelma), Willma Abi-Rached, Sarah Abi-Rached, William Abi-Rached, Jr., Dekontee Boley George (Arthur), William Gibson (Nyweh), Samuel Boley Jr, Poley Boley, Quallier Boley, cousins, sisters in-law, grand nieces and nephews, the Karluway Family Association, his FREEDOM TEMPLE CHURCH OF GOD IN CHRIST FAMILY, the twenty-three students, the Liberian Communities in Illinois and other MIDWEST STATES, friends and family in the USA and Liberia.
All Covid-19 protocols will be strictly observed. Attendees are encouraged to wear mask even IF FULLY vaccinated.
