Wellington A. Capehart Sr.
At 72, the Capehart, Tarpeh, and King families announce with deepest regrets and sorrow the home going of Wellington A. Capehart Sr., who was a well-known pillar in the US Liberian communities, during the early hours of May 23, 2021.
Born on October 24, 1949, Wellington (“Cape”), as he was commonly and affectionately called, was born in the Republic of Liberia where he met and married Amelia King Capehart.
Wellington’s love for helping others in his community was displayed in his entrepreneurial venture as a taxi service provider in his native Republic of Liberia, employing a good number of taxi drivers and contributing to the Liberian economy. At the same time, he maintained full time employment with the Liberia Electricity Corporation in its Customer Service Department where he was able to provide for his family and help many others migrate to the United States. He, himself, later migrated to the United States in the early 90’s to escape the Liberian civil unrest.
Wellington is Survived by his: a) wife (of 42 years): Amelia Capehart; b.) children: 1.) Kim Capehart, 2.) Wellington A. Capehart Jr., 3.) Welma A. Capehart, 4.) Willeen A. Capehart; and c.) siblings: 1.) Danlette Capehart, 2.) Abraham “Wally” Capehart, and 3.) Christine “Bunchy” Mathelier.
He is predeceased by his parents (Roseline Perry and Abraham Capehart) and brothers (Joseph “Bonzy” Capehart), and (Cecil Barnes). Surviving Wellington, also, are many other relatives in the Tarpeh and Brown families, who currently reside both in the Republic of Liberia and the United States.
Like all who have predeceased him, may the almighty God grant him eternal rest and shine His light in perpetuity on him.
We love you, “Cape”, and may your soul rest in perfect, eternal peace! Your legacies of brotherhood, philanthropy, and charity will endure and forever be cherished! May God bless you and the other faithful!
Wellington’s life celebration and home going would be observed as follows:
Venue: Second Free Will Baptist Church, 75 Chester Ave, Providence, RI 02907
- Viewing of the Body: Saturday, June 5, 2021, 9 a.m. – 10 a.m. (Masks wearing required)
- Funeral: Saturday, June 5, 2021, 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. (Masks wearing required)
- The bereaved families mandate and require that all attendees at the funeral service of Wellington A. “Cape” Capehart Sr. wear masks as a precaution against the coronavirus (Covid-19 disease).
