 Jessie Wleh Brown
Nov. 6, 1939 – May 13, 2021
It is with profound sadness that the Sieh and Brown families announce the death of our beloved Mother, Sister, Aunt, Cousin, relative Mother Jessie Wleh Brown. This sad event occurred on May 13, 2021 at her home in Philadelphia, USA.
Mother Brown was preceded in death by her husband Bishop Abraham W. Brown. Ma Jessie as she was called, served alongside her husband as Missionaries at Manolu Mission, in Maryland County Liberia.
Ma Jessie and her husband came to the USA, studied and trained to become missionaries. Upon their return to Liberia, they served as the first Liberian missionaries in Maryland County. They ran and managed the Manolu Mission boarding school until the Civil war in Liberia. They continued to support the mission until her death.
It was her love for the Lord and call to serve that Ma Jessie became a Certified Nursing Assistant in the USA. She worked in the Philadelphia Health System until she retired to care for her husband. She provided love, care and support for her husband until his death.
Ma Jessie was a strong believer in reciting Bible verses. Every Sunday before Sunday School began, Ma Jessie would stand and recite her Bible verse. Ma Jessie loved The Lord and as she always said, “I don’t know why He keeps blessing me”. She leaves to mourn her loss, sisters: Eliza, Grace, Jane, Nora, Mary and Comfort, her adopted children, nieces, nephews, cousins, her church family and a host of relatives and friends. She will be missed, but her job here was done and she was ready. Mother Brown will be flown home to Liberia where she will be laid to rest by her life-long partner, husband and friend.

The body will be taken to Liberia June 13, 2021
