David Bickersteth Berry, Jr.

With profound sadness and heartfelt grief,The Berry, Simmons, Nimely, Washington, and Wettee families, announce the untimely home going of their beloved and very quiet cherished father, grandfather, brother, nephew, uncle, cousin, and friend, David Bickersteth Berry, affectionately called Junior. His transition to glory took place on Saturday, June 12, 2021, after an off and on period of illness at ELWA Hospital, Monrovia, Liberia. David was born on January 14, 1954, at the Maternity and Child Welfare Center Hospital, Bassa community (now Capitol By-Pass), unto the union of David Bickersteth Berry, Sr., and Beatrice Nimely Teah

Junior was a devoted child of God and he touched the lives of countless people. As a public servant, David was one of the most compassionate, highly intelligent, a very peaceful, and gentle person you would have loved to meet; he was very loving and caring. He will truly be missed by his family, colleagues, and friends.

He obtained his elementary education from Toyota Lutheran School, his high school diploma in 1974 from Lutheran Training Institute (LTI), and graduated from the University of Liberia-Fendall Campus where he earned his bachelor degree in sociology in 1980. After graduation, David was employed as a statistician for the City of Monrovia, Department of Water and Sewer. Thereafter, he decided to pursue his entrepreneurial dream and went to the United States in the mid to late 1980's. He worked hard and ran many successful businesses, but he always wanted to return to Liberia and serve his beloved country, after living in the United States for over twelve years.

David was proceeded by his mother Beatrice Nimely Teah, father, David Bickersteth Berry, Sr., a daughter, three siblings, grandparents, and survived by his children: Nah Bickersteth Berry, Bathsheba Nyonnhsie Bickersteth Berry, David Berry, Sumoiweh Berry, Nubian Bickersteth Berry, and Bickersteth Berry. His siblings: five sisters- Ms. Lulu Bickersteth Johns, Ms. Jestina Berry, Ms. Amanda Smith, Ms. Saloma B. Kruah, and Ms. Natty Bickersteth; aunts Ms. Jestina Nimely and Dr. Deborah Nimely-Washington (Leonard, Sr.), uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of relatives in Liberia, Europe, and the United States of America.
