Hon. James Kla Giko

The death is announced of Hon. James Kla Giko after a brief illness at the Miriam Hospital in Providence Rhode Island USA. This sad event occurred on Saturday February 9, 2008. Hon. James K. Giko is the former District Education Officer (DEO) of Pleebo District, Maryland County; former Chief Education Officer of Maryland County; Member of the dissolved National Constitution Advisory Assembly; Deputy Speaker Interim Legislative Assembly (ILA); first Deputy Speaker Transitional Legislative Assembly (TLA).

He is survived by his wife Mrs. Alice N. Giko, his children Kenneth Giko, James Giko Jr. Sarah Giko, Felicia Giko Fahnbulleh, Eric Giko and Adella Giko. His stepchildren Gborwa Nyema, Daniel Socree, Regina Socree Sirleaf, Weady Socree Williams and Jonathan Williams. Number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren survived him.

Wake keeping will be held on Friday February 22, 2008 at 6pm at the Trinity United Methodist Church on 375 Broad St. Providence RI.

Funeral service will be held at the same church on Saturday February 23, 2008 at 10am, interment to follow at the Swan Point Cemetery.

Direction to the church is as follows: From 95 North (heading South) take exit 21 (Atwells Ave.). Stay straight for 0.5miles, then turn slight right onto Broad St.

From 95 South (heading North) take exit 21 towards Broadway. Turn left onto Broadway, take the next left (service Rd. #7) drive 0.3 miles turn slight right onto Broad Street.
