His Excellency Mr. Wesley Momo Johnson

May 27, 1944 – July 09, 2021


The Johnson & King Families sadly announce the death of former Vice Chairman and Vice Head of State of the National Transitional Government of Liberia (NTGL), and former Ambassador to the court of St. James, London, United Kingdom, His Excellency Mr. Wesley Momo Johnson, in his 77th year, died on Friday, July 9th at his home in Jacob Town, Paynesville, Liberia at approximately 6:00 PM.  Ambassador Wesley M. Johnson was a man of profound work ethics, sharp intellect, keen political acumen, and most of all, a loving father and family man, who had a heart for all mankind.

He is survived by his Wife, Mrs. Isabella Cassell-Johnson; two (2) Sisters, Mrs. Olive Johnson-

Cooper and Mrs. Pandora Johnson-Barclay.  His Children:  Olivia Precious Johnson, Flexman Johnson, Antonio Boimah Johnson, Martinus Boakai Johnson, Samuel P. Johnson, Clarence Blama Johnson ( Fatu Euphemia ), Eudora Bendu Tootsie Johnson-Jackson ( Will ), Jemoh Cooper-Kun ( Daniel ), Felicia Lady Slight-Adams (Tony), Doris Johnson, Darling Dixon, Julius Johnson, Christina N. Davies, Marie Johnson, Gabriel Lawson, Eddie Kevin Smith and Emmanuel Davies. One (1) Aunt: Mrs. Edna Bickersteth-Toles; several loving Grandchildren, Great grandchildren, Nieces, Nephews, Cousins, In-laws, a village, and host of other relatives and friends, including Prof. Edwin K. Tetteh, Mr. Romeo D.N. Gbartea and Dr. Allison Tomah; not forgetting his cousin, Mr. Penti Tarpeh, Jr., who was very closed to him and called him Dr. JujuTus.

Funeral Services and Interment are as follows:

In conjunction with the Government of Liberia protocols, the body will be removed from St. Moses Funeral Parlor, Somalia Drive, Gardnerville, Monrovia, Liberia on Saturday, September 11, 2021 at 8:00 AM and taken to Zion Grove Baptist Church, Brewerville City, Montserrado County, Liberia.  9:00 AM will begin the SERVICE of REFLECTION followed by the SERVICE of CELEBRATION at 10:00 AM.

INTERMENT will be at the Gbanjor Cemetery, Gbanjor, Lower Virginia, including his personal gun salute of 19 Cannons will be fired.

REPASS follows immediately after the burial at his late parents’ home and at the residence of his nephew, Albert B. Cooper, Jr., both in Gbanjor, Lower Virginia, Montserrado County, Liberia.


All COVID-19 protocols will be strictly observed.  We are requiring everyone that will be attending the Funeral Services and Repass to please wear a mask.
