CLARENCE G. (GeeGee) WRIGHT

Sunrise: February 12, 1937 - Sunset: August 23, 2015

The Wright, Taylor and Bracewell families announce with deep sorrow and sadness the home going of their beloved father, brother, uncle, grandfather, great grandfather, cousin and everlasting friend, Clarence G. (GeeGee) Wright.  “Bor GeeGee” or “Sergeant” as he was affectionately called by his immediate family and friends, was called home to rest in the early morning hours of Sunday, August 23, 2015, at the Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Minneapolis, Minnesota.   His was a life well lived.

“Bor GeeGee” is survived by his four brothers who were very close to him (Jehu Wright of Staten Island, New York; J. Jonathan Wright, M. Clement Wright and Ernest Wright of Minnesota), his four sisters (Louise Brown Reeves of Minnesota; Williette Hill [a.k.a. Mary Johnson], Aretha Wright Collins [“Miss Wright”] of New Jersey and Alfreda “Sweetie” Barclay of Monrovia, Liberia); his loving children (Alexander “Yake” Wright, Alonzo “Color” Wright, Clarence P. (“Papee”) Wright, Jr., Eric Wright, Conah Howard, Jr., Shirley “NeeKee” Wright-Harris (James W.), Clavina “WeeWee” Barclay (Solomon), Cecelia “Mamee” Wright, Louise “Tata” Wright, Leah Wright and Barbara Wright; his only surviving aunt, Patina Askey (“Aunt Tina”) of Columbia, Maryland, who has lived to see 100 plus years; his close friends and companions, Janett Tyler Fahnbulleh of Gaithersburg, Maryland, and Maggie Harris of Minnesota.  He is also survived by 27 grand children and 10 great grand children – many of them cherishing precious memories of him.  His many nieces and nephews both in Liberia and the U. S. are also mourning his loss.

Besides being a very handsome police officer in the 1960’s, Clarence “GeeGee” Wright served both as Commissioner of Sintab Township as well as County Inspector of Margibi County in Liberia, West Africa, between 1983 and 1989.
