It is with profound regret, heavy hearts and deep sorrow, the Johnson, Clarke, and Witherspoon families announce the home-going of our mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and cousin, Mrs. Elaine Clarke Witherspoon commonly called “Mother-dear” from Owensgrove District, Grand Bassa County. This sad event occurred early morning of Thursday, March 14, 2019 at the Catholic Hospital in Monrovia.
Her husband, the late William H. Witherspoon predeceased her. Elaine leaves to mourn her death and celebrate her life, her daughters, Facia Hilton, Candace Witherspoon (USA), Simone Witherspoon (Liberia), Sons: Prince Edwards, Jley Witherspoon (Liberia). Granddaughter: Alexcia Thorpe (USA) Siblings: Henry Clarke (Victoria) Liberia; Pastor Lucy Clarke-White (USA); Zean Clarke Payweyne (Andrew) USA; Minister Betty Summerville Dousuah (USA); Boy Clarke, Peterlynn Clarke (Liberia) several other aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews and a host of relatives and friends.
She lived a self-less life. She was a mother to all her siblings and was always warm and welcoming to anyone who met her. It was usually all smiles, laughter, and fun. Mother-dear will be greatly missed by her family and friends. As we come together to celebrate her life, we ask for your prayers and thoughts, as we go through this difficult time. As hard as it is for us, we know that she is resting in the bosom of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. We miss and love her, but God loves her best.
