Pastor David Z. Whea, Sr.
It is with deepest regrets and profound sadness that the Whea family announces the sudden passing of our dearest and beloved husband, brother, father, grandfather, uncle, the patriarch of our family, Pastor David Z. Whea, Sr. Sunrise: January 21,1941 and sunset, August 7, 2014 at his home in Queens, New York.
He is survived by his beloved wife for over 45 years, Comfort Whea, his brother Vah Whea. children, Christian Whea (Kormassah), Lois Whea Grant(Edrick), David Whea Jr. (Namnso), Noelyn Whea (Lardner), Quita Whea Roberts (Kolubah), Emmanuel Whea (Helena) and Aletee Whea Breier (Fred). 18 Grandchildren, Loid , Christian Jr., Evans, Sandra, Anna, Gradiah, Jason, Aaron, Edmund, A'Miatta, Anthony, Makoyah, Emmett, Blama, Tobias, Lucas , Lelah. 2 Great-grandchildren Amari Musu Whea, Aaliyah Whea.
He also leaves to morn his loss, a nephew he raised as a son, Phillip(Doris) and a host of relatives, church members and friends in Liberia, West Africa. David was predecessor by his parents, Pieso and Wheru Whea, two sisters, Leapa Whea and Teayoway Whea. brother, Alfred G. Whea.
Pastor Whea was a pioneer who contributed immensely to early Adventism in Liberia since 1970. A strong pillar who served the Seventh Day Adventist Church and mission for over 50 years. He was gallant, a social and community advocate, an educator who served on academic boards and Chairman for many organizations. He received numerous awards and recognitions. David was a Proud native of Grand Bassa County, Liberia.
