Maryetta Cooke Wesley
He that dwelleth in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of The Almighty. I will say of The Lord, He is my refuge and fortress: My God in Him will I trust. Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler and the noisome pestilence. He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shall thou trust. His truth shall be thy shield and buckler.
It is with profound sadness that we, The Wesley and Cooke families announce the death of Maryetta Cooke Wesley, affectionately called "Aunty Metta" by her many nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.
This sad event occurred on Tuesday, October 1, 2019, at The Chestnut Hill Hospital in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Maryetta was born unto the union of Thomas and Joetta Cooke. She was the second of seven children. She is survived by her loving and dedicated husband, Nathaniel E. Wesley, her children Patricia, Natalie, Robert Lee and Nathaniel III. Her siblings Joseph Cooke, Roseline M. Jimmeh (Joe), George W. Cooke and Theo Cooke. Her nieces, nephews, cousins, hosts of relatives and friends from The United States and Liberia.
She was predeceased by her parents Thomas and Joetta Cooke, her siblings Winston U. Cooke and Cecelia C. Cooke.
Maryetta was a fervent believer in The Lord and a faithful member of The New Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church in Philadelphia, PA, serving in various capacities, her last as a deaconess.
