Garmai K. Weh
June 30, 1952 – April 18, 2020
The family of Garmai Korlu Wuokolo Weh, also known as Rebecca Kennedy, regrets to announce the sudden passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, niece and cousin at age 67. The peaceful transition occurred on April 18, 2020 at the Overlook Hospital in Summit after a brief illness.
Garmai Korlu Wuokolo-Weh was born on June 30, 1952 to the union of Zogbo Kolu Wuokolo and Aaron Sumo Kennedy. Only child of her mother, and one of the many children of her father. She lived between parents and attended grade school in Yeallah Zorzor District. She also attended Zorzor Lutheran Mission in Liberia for church. She left school due to pregnancy. After giving birth to her son, she attended Nathan Ross (Night) High School in Monrovia, Liberia, where she received her high school diploma in 1974. In 1971 she was employed at the Bureau of Immigration. She worked there until October of 1977 when she came to the US in search of a better life for her and her family. She worked with Victory Engineering Company from January 3, 1978 to April 28, 1983. That’s when she was hired by Sharp Ivers-Lee West Caldwell until 2005 when the company closed. About 5 years later in 2010, she had brain surgery and God saved her. She was grateful to God to be where she was and enjoyed the benefits of life. After her recovery, she was able to return back to work. She worked a host of jobs until she was able to pursue her passion of starting a career in nursing. She completed Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) classes with Visiting Nurse Association of Central Jersey. She worked with two agencies until she retired officially in 2012.
She leaves to cherish her memory: husband, Alfred G. Weh; children, Abraham O. Kamara, Archibald T. Howard, Sieneh A. Weh, Zebia G. Weh-Braddy and Tryphena R. Banks (adopted daughter); grandchildren, Terrell Houston Howard, Benony Zogar Howard, Love A. Brooks, Leawon G. Banks-Dwah, Lester G. Dwah, Lobi A. Warsaw, Jaden J. Weh-Palmer, Theodocia A. Kamara, Khloe K. Linton, Kennedy B. Linton, Abraham Z. Kamara III, and Chase T. Braddy; children in-law: Jamar L. Braddy and Kirk Linton; an aunt, Fazeh L. Duyen; an uncle, Peter T. Dunye; host of siblings, cousins, nieces, nephews and dear friends in the US, Australia and Liberia.
Garmai had a true love and passion for people and took on the motherly role for Leticia H. Roberts, Lou Yekeh, Williametta Ammons, and Wade Tubman
