Funeral Service Information: Our bereaved families will adhere to the Interim Guidance recommended by the United States Centers for Disease Control (CDC) to reduce the spread of the pandemic COVID-19 virus. Out of respect for the health and safety of our family, friends, and community and the CDC’s guidelines regarding Mass Gatherings and Large Community Events – a Funeral Service WILL NOT take place as previously announced.

A Memorial Service for our beloved, Mrs. Rhoda Peabody-Toure will be announced at a later date.
We thank you for understanding during this difficult decision.

Amidst our grieving and mourning – the Varfley, Holder, Peabody and Toure families deliver this solemnly announcement:
On Wednesday 04, March 2020, in Newark, New Jersey (USA) our beloved, Mrs. Rhoda Maima Peabody-Toure peacefully passed away after a protracted illness. This beautiful and loving daughter, mother, and wife will be gravely missed by her family, friends, and community.

Mrs. Rhoda Peabody-Toure, along with husband, dedicated a lot of her time and talent working in the Mines and Education Departments of the defunct Bong Mining Company of Liberia prior to the country’s civil crisis.
Mrs. Rhoda Peabody-Toure is survived by her loving husband of 41 years Professor Oumar Baba Toure; five children - Katherine E. Peabody, Kathleen M. Peabody, Klade Hammond, Bachir Oumar Toure, and Assiatou (Mohamed Bah); siblings - Meitta V. Twe, Esther V. Dundas, Edwin Bishop Varfley (Clavenda), William Varfley (Sue), Solomon Varfley (Ellen), and Martha Freeman (Leroy); nine grandchildren, one great grandchild; Sibling - Martha Freeman; several nieces and nephews, along with a host of other family members and friends. Mrs. Rhoda Peabody-Toure was preceded in death by her parents John S. Varfley, Sr. and Jerusha Holder-Varfley; two brothers - Prof. John S. Varfley Jr. (Viola), Henry Varfley, Sr. (Marian); and one sister – Musu V. Taylor.
