Ms. Susanna M. Toomey

With love and immense thanksgiving to God, The Cooper-Farhat, Griffiths, Toomey, Davis, Dixon and Cummings families announce that our Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, Sister, Prayer Warrior, Aunt, Cousin, and Friend, Ms. Susanna M. Toomey, “Mama” “Suzie-Pookie” “Ma Sue” “Grandma” passed away peacefully at home with her family. She fought a courageous five month battle after a sudden and acute stroke.

God allowed her to finally rest on December 22, 2009, at home in Bowie, Maryland.

Ms. Susanna M. Toomey was born on January 10, 1923, in Cape Palmas, Liberia to Mr. Horatio Wah Toomey and Mrs. Sophia Wha Tabla Woart Toomey.

We are thankful to God for the eighty six years that she was blessed with in that she was able to share life with her great–grand children, four generations!

Coming from a very large family she is predeceased by her parents, and several siblings…She is survived by one sister, Ms. Louisa Toomey, Cape Palmas, Liberia.

She is survived by her first child, daughter Mrs. Charlotte E. Cooper-Farhat and her husband Arthur S. Farhat; her grandchildren Samuel B. Griffiths, Sheila Griffiths, Slamel and Marcy Farhat, Denzel Farhat, her great-grand children Samia Farhat, Shelemiah Griffiths-Johnson, and Mason Farhat. Also survived by her last child, daughter Florida Davis and her granddaughter Pam E. Moore, in Minnesota, Minneapolis. Also survived by her son, Adolphus Cummings and her grand children Alfreda, Charlotte, Edgar, Florida, Robert, and Anna Cummings, in Monrovia, Liberia. Also survived by her “twin”, daughter Susanna Cummings and her grandchildren Emmanuel DaSilvera, Robert DaSilvera, Evelyn DaSilvera, Roseline DaSilvera, Princess Anderson, Teddy Nagbe, Adolphus Gnepa and Winnie Gnepa, in Monrovia Liberia. Also survived by her eldest son “Old Man” Samuel Boyd and her grandchildren in Monrovia, Liberia. Also survived by her daughter Anna Dixon Hardy Brown and her grandchildren, Himide Hardy (Ghana), Kade, Martin and Horatio Hardy. She was also great grandma to several others and those who she affectionately mothered and grand-mothered, a host of nephews, nieces, family and friends.

Ms. Susanna M. Toomey, “Mama” “Suzie Pookie” “Ma Sue” “Grandma” will be greatly missed, but the memories we have will last forever!!!!!!!!!!

The Home Going Service will be held on Saturday, January 9, 2010
