The Tolbert, Larmie and Sando  families announce with profound regret the passing in his 69th year of their son, husband, father, brother, uncle, cousin and beloved friend  Lt. John larmie Tolbert.  This sad event occurred on May 14, 2017 at 3.20 pm at  the ELWA Hospital  in Monrovia following a sudden illness.  He was predeceased by his Father the late President  William R. Tolbert, Jr.

“Zopong” or “Nyakun”, as he was affectionately called, was a former First Lieutenant  in the Armed Forces of Liberia  and Member of the House of representatives for Montserrado County in the NPRAG Government. John  was a kind, gentle, loving, humble and caring person who will be missed by his loving wife Massa , children and family as well as many friends throughout the length and breadth of  Liberia.  He attended Teshie Military Academy in Ghana and was a classmate and personal friend of the former President of Ghana, Flight  Lt. John Jerry Rawlings.

Removal and Wake-keeping:
His body will be removed from the St. Moses  Funeral Home on Somalia Dive at 4pm on Friday June 2, 2017 and taken to the Tolbert Family Homestead in Bentol  (“The Lion House”) for an all-night  Wake.

Funeral Service:
John’s  body  will be removed from the  Tolbert Family Homestead  on Saturday June 3, 2017 at 9am for funeral Service at the Zion Praise Baptist Church in Bentol  commencing at 11 am. ( All tributes except for Churches and the  immediate Family will be done at the Wake.).

Interment:
Following the funeral service at the Zion Praise Baptist Church John’s  body will be taken to the Tolbert Family Cemetery in Bentol for interment.
