Maudeline Scere Swaray

Sunrise: April 17, 1953

Sunset: February 21, 2020

Our loving mother and the matriarch of our family, Maudeline Scere Swaray, daughter of the late Lulu A. Richards and the late Nathaniel Scere, and niece of the late Sophronia C. Richards, and the late Cerue Taylor of Clay Ashland, Liberia, has gone to glory to our awesome Father God. Her life was a miracle from the beginning to her transition. She was gifted from birth and extraordinary with a heart for people. She was love personified, and her impact was felt by anyone who knew her. Her touch extended to people around the world through her music with Swaray Productions, Ministry of Hope TV Ministries, the Chandeliers, co-founding ministries and organizations such as the African Cultural Alliance of North America and Divine Voices Ministries, and her decades of service in higher education with Teachers College and Columbia University. She was also a proud Leeway Foundation Transformation Award recipient for her work for social change through music. Our mother is survived by her husband, Gebah Swaray; daughters, Yewande Adebayo, Ireti Thomas, and Sangai Swaray; sons, Babarinde Adebayo and Sekou Swaray; daughter-in-law, Ifeoma Rinde Adebayo; son-in-law, Jamil Thomas; and her grandchildren, Iam Forde, Ronald Ingram, Zaire Adebayo, Jase Richardson, Judah Richardson, Angel Adebayo, Angelique Adebayo, Jamil Thomas Jr., Nekelai Thomas, Tonia Kallon, Gebah Kromah, Massa Siryon, Mabasi Swaray, Maudeline B.
