 Mr.
John Shelmedine Smith
It
is with deep sadness that the Smith, Potter, King, and Benson
families announce the death of their beloved relative Mr.
John Shelmedine Smith of Liberia. The sad event occurred on
Sunday, January 22, 2012 in Monrovia at 4:30 PM GMT.
Mr. Smith leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 59 years,
Mrs. Parthena E. Smith, of Liberia; his siblings, Ms. Jewel
Amelia Smith of Detroit, Michigan, USA; Mrs. Catherine Spiller
and Mr. Christian L. King (Gertrude) both of Liberia. Another
sister, Mrs. A.B. Williamson predeceased him by only 8 days.
Two sisters-in-law, Mrs. Frances King and Mrs. Gertrude King
of the United States and one brother-in-law, Counselor Joseph
E. Williamson of Liberia. His surviving children in the United
States include Mr. Samuel L. Smith (Delia); E. Ben Smith,
Jr. (Maromini of the UK); Mr. Richmond G. Smith (Drewricha);
Mrs. Precious P. Madison (Clarence). His children in Liberia
include M. Walter O. Smith (Martha), Ms. Yunietta Smith; Mr.
John E. Smith (Sata); Mr. Lionel M. Smith (Maria); Mrs. Gwendolyn
T. Cole (Paul); Ms. Jacqueline Smith; Mrs. Ellen M. Innis
(Mack); and Mrs. Esther Zuo (Peter Wheyee); forty-one grand
children; fifteen great-grand children, several nieces and
nephews, and a host of relatives in the United States and
Liberia.
