John
Wea Shannon
April 20, 1936 to June 16, 2010
This
is to announce the untimely passing of our father,
husband, and grandfather, John Wea Shannon.
He died on June 16, 2010 at about 12:45 PM,
at the Roger Williams Medical Center in Providence,
Rhode Island, United States of America. He was
74 years old.
Mr.
John Wea Shannon worked for the Liberian Government
in various capacities, including Senior Budget
Bureau Analyst in Monrovia and Assistant Chief
Accountant at the Liberia Sugar Company in Harper,
Maryland County. He also worked as a school
teacher in at the All Hollows School High School
in San Francisco, and in the Mount Diablo School
District in the San Francisco Bay Area in California.
He is survived by his wife Clarice Masonah Shannon,
seven children, 15 grand children and a host
of other relatives and friends.
His
surviving children include his eldest son, Charles
Hne Shannon, Dwede Shannon, Harriet Gbeodor
Shannon, Waade Amy Shannon-Zonen, John W. Shannon,
Jr., Mona Mitchell, Agatha Langford, Barbes
Dawodo, Pete Cooper.
John
W. Shannon is also survived by some very close
friends and relatives, including Nowai Gorlorwulu,
Annie Wilson-Blay, Abraham Kla Wilson, Agnes
Wilson, and Arthur Perry.
A
Wake-keeping Service will be held on
July 1, 2010 at the Church of the Holy Name
of Jesus, in North Providence, Rhode Island,
starting 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM. Shortly thereafter,
the body will be flown to the Good Shepherd
Funeral Home in Sinkor, Monrovia, Liberia.
