Albertha Rosaline Shannon

The Shannon, Wright, Obey, Jones, Stewart and Massaquoi families would like to announce with deepest regrets that Mrs. Albertha Rosaline Shannon passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 7, 2016, in Raleigh, NC. Ma Bertha, as many of you affectionately called her, was a beloved mother, aunt, cousin, grandmother and confidant to so many people. We are all grateful to God for her life that was well lived. Ma Bertha fought a good fight and now she is soaring high with the angels watching over all of us.

She is survived by her children; Adolphus Kla Shannon Sr. (Josephine Shannon), Olivia Nmade-Kla Shannon, Rev. Fr. Himie-Budu Shannon Sr. (Madia Gaga-Shannon), Lawodo Shannon Glover and a host of relatives, grandchildren, cousins and foster children. She was predeceased by her husband, J. Himie Shannon Sr., her son, J.Himie Shannon Jr. and her daughter, Euphemia Wede Shannon.

The funeral service will be held on January 23, 2016 at St. Ambrose Episcopal Church. Please see below for additional information.
