His Excellency Edwin Faseyen Sele

The Sele, Sallay, Fayia, Kamara Families announce with profound regrets, the death of Liberia's Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary, His Excellency  Edwin Faseyen Sele, to the Arab Republic of Egypt. This sad event occurred on Tuesday, August 18, 2020 at the Liberia Embassy in Cairo, Egypt. Ambassador Sele began his public service career as a Cadet in the Liberian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1977. He got formally employed as a Research Analyst in 1981. In 1987 after a distinguished performance as Senior Analyst, he joined the Liberian Foreign Service as Second Secretary at the Permanent Mission of Liberia to the United Nations in New York, where he rose through the ranks to Minister Counselor. His dutifulness and patriotism led President Sirleaf to transfer him in 2008, as Minister and Deputy Chief of Mission at the Liberian Embassy in Washington, DC. Following an outstanding career in the Liberian Foreign Service, Her Excellency President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, was also pleased to commission him on September 6, 2013, as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Liberia to the Kingdom of Morocco. Ambassador Sele completed his assignment (s) to Morocco fulfilling all tasks above and beyond with an immaculate record and deserving rights in his accomplishments towards duty, country and both the Moroccan and Liberian community. In June of 2018, Ambassador Sele was commissioned under the newly elected President, George Manned Weah, to service as Ambassador to the Cairo, Egypt mission where he remain until his demised.

He was predeceased by his parents Mr. Tailor Sele and mother Ma Korpo Wellemba Sele.
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife Estella Sele, sons Edwin Sele, Jr., Tailor Sele, Selma Sele, Jesse Payne and daughters Cynthia Jowo Sele, Korpo Sele, Kou Paris, Kula Marie Thompson and Yah Payne.
Brothers Alfred K. Sele, Yengbe Sele, Massaquoi Morlu Kamara, Joseph C. Kekula, and Alfred Kpandel Fayia; Sisters Bendu Sele, Jowo Sele, Weemor Sele and Seiyemoiya Sele.

Uncles William Sallay, Musa Kamara, Fongbeh, Old Lady Ma Mollay (aunt) and nephews Boima Sallay and William Ngormbu. Other mourners include his nieces, grandchildren and many relatives and friends both in the United States and Liberia.

September 23rd through 24th, 2020

• Samuel Stryker Funeral Home (Body removal September 25th at 4:00 pm)

• Wake will be held on September 25th beginning at 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm, at the New Covenant Outreach Ministries, 25th Street, Sinkor, opposite Stryker Funeral Home, Old GSA Compound

• Funeral Services will be held on September 26th at 10: 00 am, at the New Covenant Outreach Ministries

• Interment: Mount Barclay Cemetery, Paynesville City
