Mrs. Laura Gurley Williams-Scott (1943 - 2020)

It is with deep loss and profound sadness that we, the family, announce the passing of our dear mother, grandmother, great grandmother - Mrs. Laura Gurley Williams-Scott. This sad event occurred on the morning of Saturday, October 17, 2020 in Atlanta, Georgia (USA). She passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family. She was 77 years old.

Mrs. Scott was pre-deceased by her husband Nathaniel B. Scott; children Laura Kay Scott-Barrolle and Margaret Scott and her 2 siblings Elfreda Williams-Doe and Buster Williams.

Her surviving children in the USA are Pastor Aletha Scott-Mallory, Mrs. Jerusha Jatu Scott-Elious, Wannie Anna Scott; in Sweden is Mariam Vannah Scott, and in Liberia is Ms. Jatu Eva Scott. She also leaves behind 17 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren.

Family funeral services will be 10 am, Saturday, October 31, 2020 at the Raleigh Rucker Funeral Home in Decatur, Georgia. Due to State and Local Covid-19 restrictions, the services will be performed and shared on Zoom. Zoom link will be provided upon request.

Interment will follow immediately at the family burial plot where she will be buried alongside her husband in the Resthaven Cemetery in Decatur, Georgia (USA)
