Ms. Martha M. Sandie

It is with profound sadness that the Sandie, George, Morris and Merchant families announce the passing of their beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother and aunt Ms Martha M. Sandie. She was affectionately known as “Mammie” by her children. She will really be missed. Her passing occurred on July 24, 2014 at the Firestone Medical Center in Duside, Liberia.

Mourning her loss are her children; Mr. Ernest B. George & Julia A. George of Kansas City, MO; Mrs. Izetta L. Sirleaf of Loris, SC, Mrs. Marci Lee & Mr. Raymond Lee of Kansas City, MO; The Rev Dr. Wilmot T. Merchant Jr. & Dr. Eugenia Cooper Merchant, of Myrtle Beach, SC; Ms. Faustina T. Merchant of Liberia and Ms. Maylu B. Merchant of Liberia. Also mourning her loss are 24 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, foster sons, daughters and other relatives. Her daughter Mrs. Facia Horton and her granddaughter Cynthia Cole preceded her in death.

Funeral service will be held at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church
10th Street and Chessman Avenue, Sinkor, Monrovia, Liberia.
Saturday, August 23, 2014, @ 10am.

Wake Keeping will be on Friday, August 22, 2014, from 6pm-9pm.
