Mrs.
Kwan Memba Poquee
The
Poquee, Dahn, Gaye and Bartuah families announce
with profound sorrows, the home-going of our
mother, sister, aunt and grandmother, Mrs. Kwan
Memba Poquee, popularly known as Ma-Poquee.
This sad event occurred on Friday, September
24, 2010 in Monrovia, following a protracted
illness. Ma-Poquee is survived by five children,
including Stephen Gaye, Joe Bartuah, Betty Poquee
Marie Poquee and Ben Poquee as well as several
grandchildren , including Lua Poquee, Matu Gaye,
Joe Bartuah, Jr., Josephus Bartuah and a host
of other relatives and friends.
The
late Ma Poquee, a founding member of the Beawo
Baptist on 17th Street, Sinkor, was also a prominent
marketer at the Jorkpen Town Market in Sinkor
for more than thirty years before immigrating
to the United States in 1989. She was married
to the late Samuel Poquee of Kwendin, Nimba
County who predeceased her in 2008. May her
soul rest in perfect peace.
Memorial
service for the late Ma-Poquee will be held
at the 12th Baptist Church on 160 Warren Street
in Boston, Massachusetts on Saturday, October
16, 2010 from 3p.m. to 7p.m. The memorial service
will coincide with her funeral in Liberia on
the same date.
