JOHN MARSHALL PETERSEN 

                "SUNRISE DECEMBER 23, 1950 - SUNSET DECEMBER 2, 2013"
The Petersen and Macaulay families announce with profound sadness the death of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, family member and friend, Mr. John Marshall Petersen. John was born in Marshall Territory, now Margibi County, Liberia unto the union of Madame Mardea Gbokpon and Mr. John Marshall Petersen Sr. He transitioned from this life quietly at his home in Euless, Texas on the morning of December 2, 2013; both of his parents predeceased him. 

He graduated from Monrovia College High School, and came to the United States in 1980 to further his education. Driven by his love of the aviation industry and a burning desire to become a pilot, "John Marshall" moved from New York City to Tulsa, Oklahoma in 1983 and enrolled in Spartan School of Aeronautics. He completed his studies at Spartan in 1986 and was awarded his license as a commercial pilot/flight instructor by the Federal Aviation Administration. His dream to work in the aviation industry in Liberia was never realized due to the prolonged civil unrest which ravaged the nation years later.
While visiting with mutual friends, Emmanuel and Judee Baxter in Tulsa, Oklahoma, John met the love of his life, Mai Macaulay. They later relocated to the Dallas Fort Worth Metroplex area, and got married in 1989. John actively participated in the Liberian Community Association and the Liberian Women's Association, rendering his services as a freelance photographer. 

John was a devoted husband, an affectionate and loving father; he was very warm spirited, kindhearted and made many friends. He spent quality time studying the Word of God and striving to live a life worthy of a Christian. He has been called from his earthly labor to a peaceful rest, and as we celebrate his home going, let not our hearts be troubled; remember, the death of a saint is a delight in the eyes of The Lord. John leaves to mourn his loss and cherish his memory, his beloved wife Mrs. Mai Petersen, his daughters Wilhelmina Petersen and Frances Petersen, and an adorable granddaughter, A’Miracle; along with several nieces, nephews, a host of relatives and friends. We will miss him very, very dearly. May the love of The Father, the Grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the sweet and pleasant communion of the Holy Spirit abide with his soul forever.
