Mrs. Hilda T. Perry

Sunrise: January 20, 1930
Sunset: December 13, 2020

It is with heavy hearts that the Perry and Watson families announce that our beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt, transitioned peacefully from this world to her eternal resting place at the age of 90.

Hilda was born in Kakata, Liberia to Joseph B. Watson and Mary Jones on January 20, 1930. Hilda was married to Colonel John C. Perry, Sr., and together they had seven children and reared so many more until his passing.

Hilda was preceded in death by her mother Mary Jones, father Joseph B. Watson, husband Colonel John C. Perry, Sr., son Anthony (Bob) Adighibe, and daughter Dolores Martinez.

Hilda is survived by her children (Francis Perry, Charles Perry, Moses Perry, John Perry, Joan Perry, Ophelia (Dolly) Davis, Roberta Jamison, Hawa Lattisaw, two sisters in America (Sarah Perry and Mary Watson Garnett) and several in Liberia, two brothers in America (Joe Watson and John Watson) and several in Liberia, as well as a host of grandchildren, great-grands, great-great-grands, nephews, nieces, family, and friends.

Hilda was known to many as Ma, the Old Ma, Ma Perry, H.P., Grandmom, Cousin Hilda, Sister Tonia, and Mrs. Perry. She gave to all who encountered her, whether by word or in deed. She loved her word puzzles, her game shows, and spending time with her family, children, sister, friends and loved ones. She was a devoted supporter of many organizations and charities, including St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital and Covenant House. She will be missed dearly by so many, but she will never be forgotten because her legacy will always remain through her children and grandchildren.
