Mr. Richard B. McKay, Jr.

The Dweh, McKay and Dwanyen families with deep sorrow, regret the announce the untimely passing of
Mr. Richard B. McKay, Jr. on November 29, 2020 at 2:00 A. M. in Silver Spring, Maryland, USA. He was optimistic about the future and planning a life for his family. He was a loving and caring husband, son, father, brother, grandfather and friend. He worked so hard and sacrificed daily for the happiness of his family and love ones.

He was born in Tappita, Nimba County, Liberia to the union of Mr. Richard B. McKay and Mrs. Marylou P. Dwanyen. Richard moved to the United States in 1992 to further his education. After his studies, he joined the law offices of Pitney Bowes as a Paralegal in Chicago, IL. He excelled while in their employment. After many years at this firm, he relocated to Silver Spring, Maryland until his unfortunate demise.

Mr. McKay has left us with great memories. His love for Reggae music inspired us all to listen and appreciate the lyrics and the true meaning to most of the songs. He always said that Rasta don’t die but rather, they continue to live in the hearts of those they love. We will cherish those memories forever.

He leaves to mourn and cherish his lasting memories his wife, Mrs. Cleopatra Dweh McKay; his amazing parents—Mr. Richard Bunny McKay, Sr. and his dedicated mother Marylou Dwanyen of Liberia; his daughter Rachel Sulonteh and his other children Moesha Moore, Prince Dweh, Angel Lovet Gborplay, Princess Fayiah, Mercy Selmah, and Alex B. Dweh and his grandchildren. Also to cherish his memories are his siblings—Arlene McKay-Dixon, Ophelia Miah, Sarah McKay, Maxwell McKay, Rufus McKay, Gloria Y. Saylea Oscar Miah, Meekie McKay and Dolly Miah and a host of other relatives in Liberia and the United States. He was predeceased by his sister Jacqueline McKay. His many close childhood friends and other friends he met along his life’s journey—like Ken, Mamade, Joe and others will truly miss him.
