Mrs. Geneva Turkett-McClain

The McClain, Carter, and Bracewell-Turkett families announce with mixed feelings of sadness in her departing this world and thanksgiving to the Giver of Life for the many ways this life touched them, the home-going of Mrs. Geneva Turkett-McClain in her 87th year. This event occurred on Friday, February 8, 2013 at 11:58 AM, Little of Company of Mary Hospital in Evergreen Park, Chicago, Illinois.

Aunty Geneva, a faithful and spiritual servant of God, emigrated from Liberia to Chicago, Illinois in 1946 where she lived and impacted the church, the community, her immediate and extended families in many loving and caring ways to her life's end. Her home-going brings to a close the first generation of Andrew Turkett – father of the Bracewell-Turkett Family and reunites her with all her siblings: Angelia Turkett-Gwehi (Momo D. Gwehi), Andrew J. Turkett, Melissa Turkett-Maloney (Dr. Arnold A. H. Maloney), Mattie G. Turkett, J. D. Carter. Aunty Geneva leaves to mourn her passing one son, Andrew L. Turkett; a host of nephews and nieces including Nylvin Carter whom she took as a son, and Gladys Clarke Turkett who became to Aunty Geneva the daughter (Angela) that predeceased her; one sister-in-law, Annie Carter; a host of grand and great-grand nephews and nieces; other relatives and friends. We will miss her love, good-heartedness and prayerfulness.
