PASTOR DAVID ALEXANDER MAYSON, SR

“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.  Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day—and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing.”
2 Timothy 4:7-8-KJV

The Mayson, Freeman and Zor families of Florida, California, Connecticut, Philadelphia, New York, Virginia, Liberia and other parts of the United States, are deeply saddened by the irreparable loss of our beloved father, brother, uncle and uncle-in-laws, and grandfather, Pastor David Alexander Mayson, Sr. This sad event occurred in Eustis, Florida on October 8, 2020 at the age of 80 years 348 days at the home of his daughter Ruth T. Mayson by his bedside.

Pastor David Alexander Mayson was born October 25, 1939 in Buchanan, Grand Bassa County, Liberia to Afrika Grawlu and Sundaywaye Freeman. He graduated from Bassa High School and earned his Theology and Pastoral Degree in 1975 from Nigeria before commencing his pastoral career as a pastor and instructor at the Konola Academy, Margibi, Bong, Nimba and Montserrado Counties. He was a loving and devoted father. Although, he was viewed to be a little rough in his actions, he gave us all courage and hope and reminded us of the preciousness of life. Pastor Mayson was meticulous about his appearance. He enjoyed singing gospel music and reading his Bible. He also enjoyed his families and extended church family.

He is survived by his daughters: Cecile, Ruth and Valerie of Florida, Marvis of Liberia; his sons, Andrew of Minnesota, Paul and Isaac of Florida, and David Jr. of Boston; and 18 grandchildren, one great grandchild; his brothers, Daniel N. Zor and Isaac R. G. Freeman, Sr. of the USA, Stephen Freeman and Joseph Freeman of Liberia and a host of relatives and friends in Liberia; several nephews, nieces, cousins, friends and church family of the USA and Africa.

He was preceded in death by his brothers, Augustine Freeman, Stanley Freeman and Paul Joko Freeman; sisters, Mary and Comfort; parents Afrika Grawlu Freeman and Sundaywaye Mary Freeman; dearest wife and best friend for 45 years, Marvis Jackson Mayson (Mammie).

MAY HIS SOUL AND THE SOULS OF ALL THE FAITHFUL DEPARTED, REST IN PEACE! AMEN.
