Sunrise: January 3, 1921 – Sunset: November 12, 2020 It is with gratitude, and heavy-hearts that the Major, Greene, Mitchell, Gildersleeve, Berry, McCaulay, Pratt, and Sidifall families of Liberia, Europe and the United States announce the transition of our beloved Mother, Sister-in-Law, Aunt, grand Aunt, great grand Aunt, cousin, friend, in her 100th year, of Ms. Maud Venetia Major. This sad event occurred on Thursday, November 12, 2020 at the Raphael House Assisted Living Home in Rockville, Maryland, USA. The late Ms. Maud V. Major served as the Business Manager at the BWI Industrial Institute, in Kakata, Margibi County, Liberia; Director of Finance at the Ministry of Education in Liberia during the glory years of Liberia; an Educator, Humanitarian, and Businesswoman after her public service. Maud V. Major lived a well and full life, blessed by God. Her son, Lowell O. Grigsby, predeceased her during the civil war in Liberia. She leaves to mourn her loss and cherish her legacy, her daughter Ms. Abba Maude Sackey, several nieces and nephews, great and great-grand nieces and nephews, cousins including Mrs. Esther Karnga-Caine, Dr. Janet Greene Haddad-Moore, Mrs. Minerva Crayton-Robinson, Mr. Rhonney Greene, Mr. Judson Greene, Dr. Rev. Matilda Greene-Dunn, Mr. D’Arcy Bernard, Bernard, and a host of other relatives, family, associates and friends. Her home was always opened to all her families and friends, especially her nieces and nephews. Due to the COVID-19 restrictions, indoor attendance will be restricted; and mandatory social distancing and mask wearing measures will be enforced.
