JANICE
WALKER BAIMBA LOGAN ("TOMAAH")
FEBRUARY 1, 1954 - JANUARY 8TH, 2010
It
is in deepest sorrow that we announce the home
going of our dearest beloved Daughter, Sister,
Aunt, Niece, Cousin and best friend, in her
55th year, Ms. Janice Walker Logan, commonly
called "Tomaah". Janice was the oldest
child born on February 1st, 1954 to the late
Mrs. Ruth "Darling" Albert (Gurley)
and the late Mr. B.D. Walker. This sad event
occurred on Friday, January 8th, 2010 at her
home in Charlotte, NC.
Janice
completed her elementary education at Bromley
Mission in Virginia, Liberia and her High School
education at St. Teresa's Convent and B. W.
Harris Episcopal High School, Monrovia Liberia.
She then attended the Aburi Girls College in
Ghana. In her adult life, Janice can be mostly
remembered as Executive Secretary to the Managing
Director of the Bong County Agriculture Development
Project (BCADP) in Gbarnga, Bong County, Liberia,
as Administrative Assistant for the Goodwill
Industries, Inc, Charlotte, NC and then founder/owner
of KEDEFO Child Kare Services in Charlotte,
NC. She was married to Mr. Fofi Baimba which
union produced three wonderful children, Deconti,
Keifa, and Fojani Diamond Baimba (pre-deceased
her in 2008). She was later married to Mr. Shem
Logan.
Among
many others, she leaves to mourn her loss her
children, Deconti Baimba Massey (Taalib), Keifa
Baimba and son/nephew Prince Rutherford Moore
(Andrea); special daughter Melissa Malcolm and
her daughter Haley & son Micah; grandchildren:
Ihmiri and Mecca; her sister, Loretta Walker
Boyce-Williams(Charles), ex's: Fofi Baimba &
Shem Logan; aunts Mrs. Julia Williams Sherman
(T. Siafa, Jr.), Olive Lewis Lindsay, Edith
Lewis, Elizabeth Johnson Dougan and Eliza Precious
Turner; uncles James Lewis and Ericson Harris;
nieces: Cheryl Davis, Rose Davis Hopkins (Will),
Ruth(Nadge), Patrielle (Trekke), and Cindy;
grand nieces: Kailyn Edwards, Lianna Davis and
Anya Davis; nephews: Roosevelt Mack Davis, Jr.,
Thaddeus Aaron Davis (Amy), Tumu Johnson, Jr.
and Ryan Johnson; grand nephew: Nathaniel Moore,
Demetris Moore Jeremiah Davis; cousins: Alex
Lewis, Ohenewa Mills, Theo Mills, Pinky Turner,
Floyd C. Turner, Kanfee Sirleaf, Tehtee Sherman,
T. Siafa Sherman, III, Monkonjay Lindsay, Sophie
Johnson, Chris Johnson Harmon, Alfreda Johnson
Reeves (Augustus); Joyce Johnson Harris (Dr.
Wilmont), Ethel Johnson Paleh (Robert), Lucelia
Mann, Mydea Dougan Smith (Ken), Nansah, Chris
& Wes Harmon and one "play daughter"
Chasia Brantley and her son Shamark. Janice
was a people-person who had many special close
friends who loved her dearly who she also leaves
to mourn her loss: Nuntia Davis, Agnes Brown
Remmie (Julian), Pauletta Kirby, Joanna Slawon,
Aruth Weeks Marshall (Michael), Cora Lolin,
Rose Brewer, Rhonda Dunbar, Anna Michelle Lewis
and Caroline Jarret, the Charlotte, NC Liberian
& American Community with whom she shared
22 loving years and too many other close friends
and relatives to mention by name in Liberia,
Ghana and the United States. We know that the
sweet loving spirit of Janice now rests in the
arms of our Lord where she can watch over us
as our guardian Angel.
Wake
Keeping & Funeral Service will be held
on 01/23/10 at the C.N. Jenkins Presbyterian
Church, 1421 Statesville Ave., Charlotte, NC.
Wake Keeping: 10:00a.m. To 12:00noon;
Funeral:
12:00noon to 1:30p.m. All well wishers please
pay tribute during the wake keeping.
