Melvana Ayabavie Mensah Karpeh

Melvana Ayabavie Mensah Karpeh, affectionately called "Aunty Mel", passed away peacefully in her 92nd year at her home on the SD Cooper Road, in Paynesville, Liberia in the early morning hours of October 17, 2019. 

She was born unto the union of Irene Elizabeth Pratt Mensah and Daniel S. B. Mensah on June 28, 1928, the second of their six children, two of whom - Samuel Butler and Beauford Mensah -  along with her parents predeceased her. Her surviving siblings are Irene Mensah Brown, Stanislaus Buck (SB) Mensah and Raynold Mensah (Ciatta). She was also predeceased by her brothers Albert, Alfred, Darlingston, Emmanuel, Hurbert and Winterford Mensah.

Aunty Mel was thrice married. First to William Othello Deshield, then to Fred David and lastly to Dr. Martin Karpeh, all of whom predeceased her.

Left to mourn her home going in addition to her Irene, SB and Raynold are her children Adjovi Delores Mensah, Albert Deshield, Nyando Deshield, Elizabeth Mensah, Martin Karpeh, Patricia Karpeh, Irene Sengbeh, Sienneh Mensah, Maima Paye, Joe Baryogar and Bendu Baryogar, her sister Tina Tachie-Menson (Charles), her grandchildren Musu Deshield, Van Deshield, Melvana Vatekeh (Wellington) and Albertine E. Mensah, eight great-grand children, several nieces and nephews, grand nieces and nephews, cousins and many other relatives and friends.
