NATHANIEL BOAKAI KARNEH

Nathaniel Boakai Karneh (Dad, Grandpa, Nat, Uncle Nat) went home to be with the Lord suddenly and unexpectedly on Saturday, August 22nd, 2020 in Baltimore, MD.
Nathaniel was born on August 10, 1942 in Liberia, Cape Mount County in the town of Kpenijii to Paramount Chief Soko Karneh and Madam Tonieh Paasawe.
He attended and graduated from Saint Patrick’s High school in 1961. After high school he worked with the Criminal Investigation Department and the National Bureau of Investigation in Liberia for several years before coming to the United States for further studies.
Nathaniel immigrated to the United States in 1967 and earned an undergraduate degree in Business Administration from San Francisco State University and an MBA from the Golden Gate University in San Francisco.
After obtaining his graduate degree, he worked with the Franchise Tax Board in Hayward, California and subsequently GTE Systems in the Silicon Valley
After making the San Francisco Bay Area home for almost 30 years, Nathaniel moved to the East Coast and lived in Baltimore, MD for 24 years. He worked with Baltimore City as a youth Counselor for many years.
He was an active member of Champ Chapel United Methodist Church, in Perry Hall, Maryland. Mr. Karneh took many of his church members back to his village in Liberia to help build a school, church, and other projects.
He is survived by his loving wife Aletha Karneh who he was married to for 24 years andmany brothers and sisters who loved him dearly, including his only sibling by his mother, Tetee Siata Karneh Corneh. He loved and cared for every one of his brothers and sisters and spoke very highly of them.
Nathaniel is survived by his children: Victoria Karneh (Ghana), Natalie-Ann (Anna) Siata Karneh, Daniel Soko Karneh, Emmanuel Roland Johnnie, Jr and Mustafah Seiku Karneh. He was predeceased by his two oldest sons, Ansumanah Cecil Karneh and Jusufuh Edward Karneh. Uncle Nat is also survived by a host of loving nieces and nephews including Tehtee Corneh Wolo who he sent for from Liberia and who lived with him for 4 years. Grandpa was a proud and loving grandfather to Ten grandchildren, and several great nieces and nephews.
