Emmanuel Wea Johnson Sr.
It is with grateful hearts and joy filled spirits that the Johnson, Elliott, Baker and Cummings families announce the peaceful passing of our beloved husband and father, Emmanuel W. Johnson Sr., at the Dulles Health Rehab and Nursing in Herndon, VA on March 2nd, 2018. Father J, as he was affectionately called by many, transitioned in the evening surrounded by his nuclear family and closest friends.
Born in Fishtown, Maryland County, Liberia West Africa, he was a blessing to Ban Sie-Dabe Johnson and Helena Tode Elliott-Johnson on May 24, 1924.
Father Johnson is survived by his wife, Henrietta B. Johnson; his five children, Esther Jallah, Emmanuel W. Johnson Jr. (Eliane), Helene T. Johnson, Randetta N. Johnson and Randolph B. Johnson (Tasha); his seven grandchildren Saygbah (Lady) Cooper, Elise Johnson, Nuelle Johnson, Emmanuel W. Johnson III (Manny), Charles Crawford (Champ), Sean Johnson, and Liliana Johnson (Lily); his mother-in-law Rachel A. Cummings; his sisters-in-law Matene McWilliams, Rosalind Cummings, Rachel E. Cummings, Mona Cummings and Lena Tabla Cummings; his brothers-in-law Ralph Cummings and Edgar (Boy Blue) Cummings, many nieces, nephews, and a host of other relatives.
Father J, also has a host of inherited children; Paul & Verlaine Jones, Gerald & Roberta Cooper, Julius King, Sarah Gibson-Doe, Wilmot Merchant, Genevieve Sherman- Sheriff, John & Rosalind Mellish, Frederick Walker, and Clemenceau Urey to name a few.
He was the second of five maternal children. His siblings John Bedell, Samuel Johnson, Cecelia McWilliams-Boyd, and George McWilliams all predeceased him.
