Joseph Gbana Hall
The
Tyler, Barkley, and Allison families regret
to announce the death of Rev. Joseph Gbana Hall
of Durham, NC. Rev. Hall passed on Tuesday,
April 5, 2011 at Alamance County Hospice in
Burlington, NC. He was 70.
Rev.
Hall was born on October 16, 1940 in Monrovia,
Liberia to Alfred Tyler and Mazzie Vongee Brown-Barkley.
He was one of nine children. He was the Pastor
of First Baptist Church, Oldest Congo Town,
Liberia, Vice President of the Liberian Baptist
Missionary and Educational Convention, and Professor
at the Liberian Baptist Theological Seminary.
After relocating to Durham, NC, Rev. Hall ministered
at Mt. Level Missionary Baptist Church where
he led the Prison Ministries. He enjoyed teaching,
singing and traveling. He was a loving man whose
great sense of humor never escaped anyone who
met him. He was passionate about his work for
the Almighty God and enjoyed visiting families,
mentoring, teaching, and leading souls to God.

Joseph Gbana Hall is survived and will be missed
by his Mother Mazzie Vongee Brown-Barkley; his
wife Beatrice Hall; 3 children: Hawa, Samuel,
and Patience; one granddaughter Aatajah; 6 brothers:
Jones, Richard, Urias, James, Alexander and
Victor; 4 sisters: Ceru, Rolia, Christiana,
and Daniellette; and a host of nieces and nephews.
His father predeceased him.
