Ida
Gibson
This
is to announce the passing away of Mrs. Ida
Gibson on Easter Day, April 4, 2010 at a local
hospital in Cleveland, Tennessee., USA. She
is the former wife of the late Ambassador Theophilus
Thomas (Theo). Her parents, Chauncey and Mary
Gibson, predeceased her, as did her brother
Chauncey Gibson and sister Salome McGill. Mrs.
Gibson had a close relationship with the family
of the Late President William V. S. Tubman.
She is survived by a sister, Katherine North
(New York) and a sister-in-law, Frances Mayson
(Liberia). She leaves to mourn three children
- JoAnn Thomas Sandstrom (Rune) of Sweden, Theophilus
Thomas, Jr. (Liberia), and Thelma Thomas (of
California); several grandchildren, nieces,
nephews, cousins, and a hosts of relatives and
friends. Mrs. Gibson was a devout Christian
who lived and practiced well her faith in God.
Funeral
Services will be on Saturday, May 8th, at
the North Cleveland Church of God in Christ,
355-11 Street (on the campus of Lee University).
There will be visitation on Saturday
morning, 10:00 to 11:55 am, with the funeral
Service at 12 noon in the Chapel. The Rev.
Larry Wilson and the Rev. Dr. Matilda Eeleen
Greene Dunn will officiate. Interment will
follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens on North Lee
Highway in Cleveland, Tennessee.
